*1951 : A
dream is born. Rev. Fr. Peter Schweiger, the then Superior General, writes to Mons. L.
Raymond, the then nuncio in India, about the possibities for an Indian Claretian Mission.
*1961 : Rt. Rev. Sebastian Vayalil, Bishop of Pala,
invites Claretians. The first batch of candidates leaves for Germany.
*1968 : Joseph Madhavath, the first Indian Claretian
priest, is ordained.
*1970 : Claret Bhavan, Kuravilangad, Kerala the first
minor seminary is opened .
*1972 : Claret Bhavan, Carmelaram, Bangalore the
novitiate house, is erected.
*1976 : The Indian Mission turns a dependent
delegation.
*1976 : Parish ministry in Tamil Nadu is taken up. The
parishes of Karumathur , Ettamadai, and Sikkalnayakanpettari are gradually taken by
Claretians.
*1977 : Claret Bhavan, Karumathur is erected as study
house and minor seminary.
*1979 : Recruitment of vocations from Sri Lanka begins.
*1981 : A dream fulfilled : Missions opened in Andhra
Pradesh.
*1982 : The Indian Delegation turns Independent.
*1984 : A giant leap
The Indian Province is born.
*1984 : Parish ministry in Karnataka is taken up. At
present parishes of Doddballapur, Jalahalli, Karahalli are entrusted to Claretians
*1984 : North-East missions opened.
*1986 : The Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka mission becomes a
Dependent Delegation.
*1986 : Claretians take over Sumanahalli Leprosorium.
*1986 : Claretian Publications is born.
*1987 : The "Mercy Home" for the orphaned
children is established at Karumathur.
*1988 : Olivumala and Charity parishes in Kerala are
entrusted to Claretians. Claretians take up "Jesus Fraternity" apostolate
working with the ex-convicted.
*1988 : Claretians begin to work among the Santhals.
*1989 : A Philosophate opened at Wardha. Minor seminaries
in Belgaum and Bihar.
*1991 : Bihar missions for Claretians.
*1992 : The Indo-Sri Lankan Delegation turns Independent.
*1993 : Another great moment:The Province of Madras is
born.The Indian Province is renamed as Province of Bangalore.A minor seminary
at Medchal is opened.
